The game then reached French soils at around 1500. The French royalty and the top class soon warmed to the game. Others have asserted that the French invented baccarat. Some say that the Italian introduced it to them. Whatever it maybe, the game definitely flourished there and was came to be known as Chemin De Fer.

At about the 1950s baccarat made splashes in the casinos of Mar de Plaza in Argentina. Said to be the home of the Argentinean high-class the game soon spread to the rest of South America.

Also about the same time, baccarat reached Havana, Cuba. The game was called Punto Banco. It is still debated as to where the game changed its rules and procedures. Some say baccarat underwent changes during its stay in Cuba. Others contend that it was in Europe. Either way, the game play of baccarat differs in Europe and in America.

Baccarat caught the eye of a rich executive by the name of Francis "Tommy" Renzoni. He brought the game to Las Vegas in 1958. Unfortunately, because of the game's exclusivity and high-class nature, baccarat was not as warmly accepted in the Americas as it was in other parts of the world.
